2 killed when twin-engine plane crashes in South Florida park

Two people were killed after a twin-engine plane crashed in a South Florida park Sunday morning, WPBF reported.

According to the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office, the Cessna C340 aircraft crashed in Lake Worth inside John Prince Park. The aircraft crashed just south of Palm Beach State College and about a mile northeast of the Palm Beach County Park Airport.

According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration, the crash occurred at 10:40 a.m. The flight originated in Key West, the FAA said. The FAA said it will conduct an investigation and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause for the accident.

The plane was on fire when responders from Palm Beach County Rescue arrived, WPTV reported. The Sheriff's Office confirmed that the two people on board the plane died.
