The Dayton area is blessed to have residents with global roots. Luckily, some of those folks open restaurants and share dishes from around the world with the rest of us.

Some of the best ethnic food in the area can be found in strip malls.
Page Manor Shopping Center on Airway Road near Wright Patterson Air Force Base is a good example of that.
The plaza is home to Wing Zone, Subway and Donatos locations, but there are places are plenty of unique eats as well.

1.) VIETNAMESE — Linh's Bistro

What does it specialize in: Great Vietnamese cuisine. Linh's flavor-packed pho is some of the best around. It long ago won the heart of our food and dining reporter Mark Fisher, who praises it in his list of great Dayton area restaurants.

And you definitely wouldn't kick Linh's combination appetizer for two out of the bed, either. The bounty includes fried spring rolls, lemongrass pork kabobs, shrimp cakes and butterfly chicken.
The restaurant’s Chinese menu is also impressive.

2.) MEXICAN — Las Margaritas Mexican Bar and Grill

What does it specialize in: The staff is friendly and the food inexpensive and muy bien. The six mini taco deal is well-worth the $5.99, and the signature margarita packs a punch for just $2.99.
We were there when the restaurant opened in 2015.

What does it specialize in: It is simply good food that will make you say "opa!" The Greek fries are delicious, and the gyros stand up against the best in town.

4.) KOREAN — Song's Sushi

What does it specialize in: The sushi and bibimbap at Song's certainly draws a crowd. But I became a fast fan of its Daeji bulgog, which is spicy pork with onions and sesame seeds, when I tried it last year.
