Small fire shuts down Wendy’s near Dayton Mall

The Wendy's near the Dayton Mall is closed after a small fire traced to a thermostat damaged a wall and part of the restaurant's floor.

Miami Valley Fire District crews were dispatched to the Wendy's, 2948 Miamisburg Centerville Road, Miami Twp., just after 8 p.m. on a report of a structure fire.

There were no injuries and the employees were able to get out of the building, a fire official said.

Damage to the wall and floor were deemed minimal, the fire official said. The floor was damaged when the remains of the melted thermostat began to drip.

Whether the restaurant reopens tonight or at all on Saturday will be up to a health inspector, who has been asked by fire officials to the scene.
