Charming Charlie closing Butler County location

Fashion accessories retailer Charming Charlie has filed for bankruptcy and plans to shutter 100 stores by year’s end, including its Bridgewater Falls location in Fairfield Twp.

“By reducing the size and scale of our operations, we have the opportunity to stabilize the business,” interim CEO Lana Krauter said in a statement. “We also will be better equipped to read and react to trends and what our customers want, which had been the hallmark of our success.”

This media outlet inquired about the precise date of the Butler County store’s closing, but was referred to court documents and transcripts that provided the general year-end closing timeline given for the 100 stores nationwide.

Charming Charlie is a specialty retailer focused on fashion jewelry, handbags, apparel, gifts and beauty products. It operates 370 stores in the United States, four in Canada, and 16 locations in the Middle East and the Philippines.

The Houston-based company cited dwindling cash balances in announcing its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing earlier in the week.
