Shopping local for unique style on a dime

Big-box chain stores aren't the only places to snag deals around town.

I attended District Day in the Oregon, which hosted some excellent sidewalk sales alongside restuarant samplings and free, live music.

At Clash Dayton, I picked up a retro-styled sheer shirt I'd won through an Instagram contest (so it was free to me!) that usually retails for $24. I also picked up a new pair of sunglasses for $14, on sale from $20.

I paired my new shirt with an already-owned basic black skater skirt from Old Navy, and lace-up suede pointed-toe flats I'd found at TJMaxx.

The dainty faceted stone earrings came from BRIM -- thanks in part to a gift certificate, I only paid $10 for the $35 baubles.

More than I adore any of the items I picked up this weekend, I love that I'm supporting local businesses while adding unique items to my wardrobe.
