Many of us can't wait to ring in 2016.

Whether you're looking for an event for the whole family, would prefer a fancy dinner without the crazy party, or just want to go balls to the wall, we're rounding up the fun times,  dinner specials and live entertainment in Dayton to make sure your New Year's Eve celebration is nothing short of marvelous.

Here's to making this New Year's Eve one for the books.

1. Rue Dumaine's New Year's Eve Celebration

The Rue Dumaine celebration screams of pure, unadulterated class. As if this restaurant weren't already one of the most prime spots to host such a tremendous occasion, its using New Year's Eve to settle any doubt.

"We want people to come and relax and celebrate the end of the year," said Anne Kearney, chef and proprietor of Rue Dumaine.

Small tastings from anything on the menu will be available for sampling. "Just ask a chef that night, and they will prepare it," Kearney said.

Al Par, the Jazz and Blues Musician will be performing live. Still not sold? Check out their

2. Irish Club Dayton's New Year's Eve Celebration

At the Irish Club of Dayton's celebration, you can "dance your way into 2016 with Soul Express playing Motown and Memphis soul of the 1960s and '70s," including music from the Temptations, the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye and Sly and the Family Stone. Sounds pretty groovy to us.

  • Heavy appetizers and pork & kraut at 10 p.m.

4. Short Street Ball Drop in Yellow Springs

has been dropping for years now. It’s a beloved Yellow Springs tradition and

a fabulous way to count down to the New Year.

5. New Year's Eve at the Little Art Theatre

If you're interested in getting down before the ball drops, the Little Art Theatre is hosting a special New Year's Eve celebration leading up to the Short Street Ball dropping. The event features a theatrical performance of "The Princess Bride" and a live singalong from pianist Mark Delozier. Ticket prices includes hors d'oeuvres, a champagne toast, party hats, noise makers and tons of fun.

The cash bar will feature a special NYE punch, craft beer on tap, wine, liquor, prosecco and more.
